Preacher Repents And Begins Winning Souls.

Recently, Larry West spoke in six congregations within three days in Los Angeles, conducting the We Care Seminar for the brethren. One local preacher there, introducing Brother West at a Sunday afternoon assembly, made a rather significant confession. He said, "I attended the Seminar classes yesterday, and I was doing fine, listening to Larry speak of others among us needing to win souls, but when he started on us preachers, telling us WE are to practice what we preach, I began to squirm. Affer Brother West ended the four-hour session yesterday, I went back to my office and got down on my knees and repented in prayer. I immediately got up and picked up the phone and called a friend I had been wanting to confront for a long time. I asked him The Question ('The Question' referring to the beginning of the dialogue Brother West uses in his We Care approach). The man said he wanted to talk to me about that and that the only time he had to talk was 'right now.' I told him that this was the only time I had, too! He came to my office, and I confronted him, I taught him the Gospel, and, " he said, "I baptized him into Christ! Then, I shared with him the material I received at the Seminar, and he took it home and showed it to his two daughters, and we baptized them this very evening!"

Another one of the local preachers caught Brother West in the foyer of one of the church buildings on Sunday and said excitedly, "Brother West, it works!" He said, "I have been wanting to win a friend of mine to Christ, but I have been arguing with him for months on the subject of speaking in tongues. He was at church this morning, so I decided to preach just the simple Gospel, and I baptized him!"

Before the weekend was over, a third preacher, using the We Care approach, baptized a prospect into Christ, bringing the number to five. Thrilled, Brother West says, "Five obeyed the Gospel before the weekend was over."

49 Respond To Invitation During Workshop At Sandstone Drive Church, Little Rock, Arkansas

Jule and Judy Miller conducted a soul winning workshop at the Sandstone Drive church in Little Rock, AR, in September. Ralph Weinhold, preacher, said, "Not only did the Lord bless the scheduling of the workshop, His hand also blessed the entire effort from beginning to end. Attendance was excellent and interest high. Eighty-one of our 200 members attended the workshop. On Sunday, 49 responded to the invitation to dedicate themselves to being better soul winners. This is about 25% of our entire membership! Before the day was over, five Bible studies were set up and others were in the making. One of the elders said, 'This workshdp is the best thing we have had in a long time.' We thank God for the way in which He used the Millers to motivate us all to get more committed to His work in the vineyard."

Hidden Valley Church Of Christ, Houston, Texas Sees Good Results From Workshop

"This past year, an event took place at the Hidden Valley congregation which is proving to be the greatest event in our history. This was the date of our Soul Winning Workshop with Jule and Judy Miller.

"We were thrilled with the excellent attendance, and especially with the enthusiasm for saving souls the workshop rekindled among us." -Ron Hill, preacher; Hidden Valley Church of Christ, 9521 Sunnywood, Houston, TX 77038

New Personal Teaching Service Is Highly Successful, 30% Of Congregation Involved In Soul Winning.

The New Personal Teaching Service conducted by Ivan Stewart in August was a tremendous blessing to the Scenic Woods congregation in Houston, TX. After spending $5,000 to $6,000 each year on local evangelism with only average results, we were ready to change to proven procedures that were taught in the IVAN STEWART PERSONAL EVANGELISM IMPROVEMENT COURSE. Ivan was invited to come study the possibilities of this congregation and tailor-make that which would be more productive. I believe what Stewart designed will be 1,000% better than anything available in the brotherhood, as well as last for many years without constant disappointment and changing programs. Brother Stewart was assisted by Leon Estep.

"Over 30% of the membership is involved with leading souls to Christ. We have seen our members make strong commitments to this 'equipping program.' I feel these commitments made with prayer are not mere spur-of-the-moment emotions. Our people were so impressed that they readily accepted the challenge." -Scenic Woods Church of Christ, 7300 Langley Rd., Houston, TX 77016

Gainesville, Florida, Church Decides To Give Evangelism Priority: 30% Of Congregation Commit To Involvement

Gene Ellmore, minister, reports that the University City congregation in Gainesville, FL, is ready for greater evangelistic fruit as the result of the just completed PERSONAL TEACHING SET-UP SERVICE conducted by Ivan Stewart and Leon Estep of Oklahoma City, OK.

Stewart, working with the brethren from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., October 1-5, identified the "missing link" in a successful and fruitful personal teaching effort and helped the congregation to find the "missing link." Elimore said, "Elders, deacons, teachers, preachers, and members have made a decision to focus their efforts in this direction." He said further, "Those involved in this work believe Jesus meant it when He said, 'Go Ye.' We truly want to set a good example so more will want to live the last desires expressed by Jesus before He left this earth."

Ellmore concluded, "This entire program that Stewart has set up is comprehensive: involving more than 30% of the congregation in developing interest of the prospects to be taught, training the members to teach, caring for the members, involving the members, and restoring the erring members. His program is also cohesive in that it has one focus and purpose-saving souls eternally for Christ" (I Cor. 12:12; Eph. 3: 21). -- Leon Estep, 2805 Tudor Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73127

Stewart Improvement Course Produces Fruit

"The IVAN STEWART PERSONAL EVANGELISM IMPROVEMENT COURSE recently conducted here at the Spring Lake congregation by Leon Estep is paying great dividends.

"This course instilled a new sense of courage by showing us how to obtain study appointments with ease. Members of the Lord's church here that have never made an attempt at personal evangelism have already brought the lost to Christ.

"It motivated us by making us aware of the need to reach out to those who are in such need." Chapel Hill Road Church of Christ, Spring Lake, NC 28390
