Week 3
I. Lesson Objectives
The instructor will discuss and demonstrate what churches have done individually, denominationally, and as part of Christianity in general in outreach and teaching on the Internet. The student will research at least ten church and/or ministry web sites and write out what is considered good and not so good for each web site and what the mission is on each. These evaluations will be e-mailed to the instructor.
The instructor will discuss user group networks, how to set up a group network and/or e-mail list.

- Criteria and Evaluation of a Church/Ministry Web Site
Newsgroups and UseNet groups
- Main newgroups search engines -- Deja News
- Power search will search two different data bases -- based on age.
- cf. URLs of Interest.
- Search by news groups, subject, and individuals posting items.
- How to use, rules of use, and how to post items.
- Learn to follow a particular UseNet group (do not join until you have
- followed it for a few weeks
III. Need to Know
- 1. A philosphy of a good Web Site
- 2. Name of the home page -- "home.htm" or "initial.htm," both not both in
- the same directory.

VI. Required Assignments
- The student will research at least ten church and/or ministry web sites and write
- out what is considered:
- 1) good
- 2) the not so good for each web site, and
- 3) what the mission is on each.
