Wildcard -- the Asterisk
[BACK] [HOME] [NEXT]

The wildcard character is the Asterisk and is used to represent any letter and/or number and any letters and/or numbers. Most search engines require at least three characters before the Asterisk can be used.

For example, a search for "christ*" would include -- christ, christs, christian, christianity, christians -- just to name a few. We can search for "church* of christ" and get -- church of christ and churches of christ. Try searching for "churchian" and "churchian*" ? ? ?

Search for "col*r" would yield -- color , colour (British spelling) as well.

When in doubt of a spelling, remember three letters and/or numbers combination with wildcard Asterick should give you a choice of the correct spelling, unless someone else misspelled the word.
